Katie has over 20 years’ consultancy experience and is an experienced project manager, with clients including the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change, the Environment Agency, the European Environment Agency (EEA) and various UK local authorities. Katie’s core skills are the design and development of database and spreadsheet tools and systems; emissions reporting and calculations; and the analysis of spatial datasets for emissions inventories. Katie is also Aether's Quality Manager.
As part of the UK emissions inventory team, Katie developed emission mapping methodologies to generate high resolution emission maps for use in national and local air pollution modelling. Katie has also developed emission mapping methods for the London Atmospheric Emission Inventory, covering all sectors of the LAEI except road transport and aviation.
Katie is Knowledge Leader for Local Authority carbon emission data as part of the UK emission inventory programme, overseeing the production of the LA level CO2 dataset for DECC each year. This data provides a baseline dataset for Aether’s support for local authorities across the UK in particular to develop Strategic Energy Action Plans (SEAPs).
Katie also has expertise in the EU Emission Trading Scheme, having developed the first EU ETS permit management system for the UK Environment Agency and subsequently designing and developing a tool to calculate Phase III EU ETS installation allocations for DECC. For the EEA Katie manages the production of a report each year on the Application of the EU ETS Directive across the EU member states.
Katie is currently renovating a small farm in Dorset, learning new skills such as hedge laying, retro-fitting energy efficiency into a 200 year old house and project managing builders.
