Aberdeen becomes a Pilot City for the Mayors’ Sustainable Development Indicators

22 December 2017

Together with our collaborator Benviroc, Aether is developing the Mayors’ Sustainable Development Indicators (MSDI).

The MSDI is a Sustainability Index for municipalities in Sweden, Finland and the UK. The index, that will be launched in 2018, aims to compare municipalities’ environmental, economic and social sustainability according to a range of indicators.

The service is currently developed in collaboration with a group of Pilot Cities, and today we are happy to announce that Aberdeen joined the MSDI. We will work together with the Pilot Cities to select the most relevant indicators, and ensure that the service helps improve their work on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Located on the Scottish east coast, Aberdeen is the third most populous city in Scotland with a total population of 229,800 in the local authority area. Known as the Granite City and the Silvery City with the Golden Sands, Aberdeen hosts the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, and has been named as one of the 60 most liveable cities in the world.

If you are interested in finding out more about the MSDI or our work with cities and municipalities in across the world, please do not hesitate to contact Christofer.
