Henry Irvine Consultant

Quote

I enjoy bringing data and research together to powerfully inform climate policy, at local, national and international levels.

Henry Irvine, Consultant

Henry joined Aether in 2019. Since joining he has enjoyed gaining experience in a wide variety of projects, including:

  • Assisting local authorities around the UK in scoping, modelling and developing action plans in response to declarations of climate emergency
  • Providing support to inventory reviews under Effort Sharing Decision and National Emissions Ceilings Directive
  • Developing and delivering training materials on inventory compilation to national government agencies
  • Offering technical support in creating national shipping and industrial pollutant inventories

Before starting at Aether, Henry studied BSc Geography at Durham University. While there, he acquired experience in GIS and data interpretation and specialised in the reconstruction of the El Nino Southern Oscillation over hundreds of years. His interest in the natural and social science of climate change led him next to Antarctica via New Zealand, where he studied Antarctic Studies at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch. The course and his research – into the parallels between Big Tobacco, Cold War politics and science-policy in the climate change sphere – allowed him to develop skills of written and oral presentation.

When out the office, Henry enjoys exploring the great outdoors, often through running, bring on water (canoeing) or underneath it (diving). He is a keen follower of many sports and slow reader of many books.
