Senior Air Quality Consultant - Rail/transport emissions

Aether is a niche environmental consultancy specialising in the compilation, reporting, and review of air pollutant and greenhouse gas emission inventories, emission projections and policies and measures for specific sectors, cities, regions and countries. Our clients include BEIS, Defra, DfT, RSSB, TfL, UK local authorities, the European Commission and the European Environment Agency, as well as national governments in developed and developing countries. We are currently working in the UK, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

As a result of the growth of our transport sector business, we are offering the opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our team, in a full-time position.

The Role

Aether is seeking candidates with technical experience of estimating emissions from transport and mobile machinery, including processing and analysis of associated technical data and activity data. The successful candidate will work with our company Directors and other members of the team to support new business development and to deliver across our portfolio of transport projects. The role has a particular focus on rail emissions because we have recently been broadening our offering to the rail sector. The role offers excellent career development opportunities to lead projects, broaden and expand our customer base, and develop innovative customer-focussed products and services.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Educated to at least degree level in a scientific subject (MSc preferred)
  • Typically 5+ years’ experience in the transport sector with a track record of working with transport emissions data, and with rail industry knowledge an advantage
  • Excellent numerical and data handling skills within MS Excel are essential, with experience of R preferred
  • Self-motivated and with a thorough attention to detail
  • Previous experience of working in an environmental consulting environment, including business development
  • Excellent communication, customer facing and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A strong track record of project management and delivery including written reports (fluent English is essential), provision of datasets and delivery of presentations.

Aether offers an attractive remuneration and benefits package including:

  • Salary £32,000 - £42,000 per annum dependent on experience
