Project win: industrial emissions

09 September 2010

Aether together with Entec and the Institute of Occupational Medicine have been awarded a project by the European Commission titled, Industrial emissions of nano and ultrafine particles.

The overall objective of the project is to improve the understanding on emissions of nano and ultrafine particles in order to contribute to the setting of priorities for policies directed towards the regulation of those. More specifically, the objective of this project is:

  • To summarize current knowledge on atmospheric releases of nano and ultrafine particles in EU27.
  • To provide an in-depth analysis of the characteristics, dynamics, and impact on human health and the environment of these particles released from industrial processes.
  • To provide recommendations  on how to address identified knowledge gaps.
  • To review EU legislation on industrial emissions and whether it addresses releases of these particles appropriately.
  • To develop policy options for the regulation of nano and ultrafine particles in EU legislation related to industrial emissions.
