Kieran Lee Rail Modeller

Quote

I design and implement models to help clients understand the emissions of trains.

Kieran Lee, Rail Modeller

Kieran is a competent programmer, comfortable working in R and Python. He leverages his programming skills to analyse large datasets and undertake modelling work. Kieran is focused on the rail sector, developing models to understand the impact of emissions at both local and national levels. He also aims to quantify the impact on emissions of a range of mitigation measures.

During his MMath degree at the University of Nottingham, Kieran studied modules including Multivariate Analysis and Statistical Machine Learning. He developed familiarity with Bayesian models and time series. Prior to joining Aether, he undertook a brief research project with the University of Nottingham attempting to classify trajectory data and forecast.

Projects include:

Conducting analysis to quantify the opportunity to run longer trains as part of T1302 for the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB)
Conducting data analysis and modelling to advising rolling stock companies (ROSCOs) on the potential impacts of various mitigation measures on their rolling stock.
Kieran is responsible for overseeing Aether’s train specific models and is currently managing ongoing verification and version control.

Outside of work Kieran is a keen sports fan who enjoys following his local football team. He also enjoys long walks in the local countryside.
