International Organisations

Aether brings together multi-disciplinary teams to provide expert capacity building services and key skills in data analysis and inventory review

Aether leads teams to provide its customers with transparent solutions for efficient measurement, reporting and verification (MRV).  Aether supports a range of international organisations such as the European Environment Agency, UNFCCC, IPCC, UNDP and the European Commission with guidance development, data gathering, analysis, quality assurance and reporting.

Aether experts acted as lead authors for the development of the data collection chapter of the 2006 IPCC guidelines and the EMEP/EEA Guidebook on estimating air pollutant emissions.  We also provide the Chair and secretariat to the CLRTAP’s Task Force on Emissions Inventories and Projections (TFEIP) on behalf of the UK. Aether is highly active with the European Environment Agency developing and improve data gathering and reporting systems, quality assurance and analysis and reports. We have also supported the UNFCCC in developing tools and services for the annual GHG inventory review process.

Technical experts and capacity building

Aether has a broad range of experienced experts skilled in capacity building and knowledge sharing.  These experts support the European Commission, UNDP and other organisations in delivering focussed and progressive programmes of capacity building including the development of organisational and institutional systems for sustainable data gathering, analysis and reporting of data on greenhouse gases and air pollutants.  Much of this work is focussed on supporting countries in meeting the Paris Agreement commitments, particularly on transparency and in developing sustainable MRV systems for Nationally Determined Contributions.

Aether provides expertise in the development and management of UNFCCC and European Commission review and assessment activities and support countries in gearing up for engagement in  international analysis.

Aether’s projects for the European Commission have supported the development of expertise and systems in Member States for GHG inventory and projection reporting.  Aether experts have also lead work for the European Commission to build capacity in countries neighbouring the EU including Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Turkey.

Aether has been closely involved in the set-up and establishment of the Coalition on Paris Agreement Capacity Building which sets out to provide thought leadership on the development of Measuring, Reporting and Verification systems to inform decision makers and track progress on climate action.
