Welsh Government Public sector net zero reporting guide

03 June 2021

Welsh Government has a target for a carbon neutral Welsh public sector by 2030. Aether, along with associate Clare Wharmby, have worked on two projects to support this. The first project delivered an assessment of the comparability of different GHG reporting standards and compared existing public and private sector accounting approaches currently in use. The second project developed detailed guidance for Welsh public sector bodies to use to report their carbon footprints in order to enable consistent monitoring towards the 2030 target.

This guidance docuement has now been published here along with the Net Zero Carbon Reporting Spreadsheet which provides a structure for calculation and reporting of emissions.

Development of the guidance included a testing phase with a number of Welsh Public Sector organisations to ensure that the developed guidance was user friendly and fit for purpose.

We hope that this will be a useful step in supporting the Welsh Public Sector track progress to Net Zero.
