Malta Training

07 December 2016

Kristina Darmanin of Environment & Resources Authority in Malta visited us in Oxford for a two day intensive training session on emissions projections and emission mapping for air quality pollutants.  We also provided an informal review of existing emissions estimates for Malta, to support the prioritisation of improvements for next year’s air quality inventory.

We provided hands on training in a variety of methods for compiling projections, in addition to a projections template, and our recommendations as to useful data relative to specific inventory categories.

In the mapping training we explained emission map reporting requirements and reporting formats as well as providing hands-on training in processing point sources data and examples of mapping methods for diffuse emissions such as population density and land over data for agriculture sectors.  A pragmatic approach is needed to be realistic about the investment time required for producing maps of emissions and projections for Malta, but Kristina now has the knowledge to produce these aspects to good quality. Aether received great feedback from the two sessions.
