Bristol becomes a Pilot City for the Mayors’ Sustainable Development Indicators

24 January 2018

Together with our collaborator Benviroc, Aether is developing the Mayors’ Sustainable Development Indicators (MSDI).

The MSDI is a Sustainability Index for municipalities in Sweden, Finland and the UK. The index, that will be launched in 2018, aims to compare municipalities’ environmental, economic and social sustainability according to a range of indicators.

The service is currently developed in collaboration with a group of Pilot Cities, and today we are happy to announce that Bristol joined the MSDI. We will work together with the Pilot Cities to select the most relevant indicators, and ensure that the service helps improve their work on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Located in south west England, the Bristol local authority has a population of 454,200 inhabitants. Bristol is one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations, and has repeatedly been named as the most liveable city in Britain. In 2015, Bristol won the EU’s European Green Capital award, an award given to a European city with more than 100,000 inhabitants based on its environmental record.
