I specialise in the compilation, analysis and visualisation of environmental datasets and data on transparency.

Kathryn Hampshire, Principal Consultant

Kathryn specialises in Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) and transparency, emissions inventories, and data visualisation. Kathryn has experience in designing and implementing MRV systems, developing systems that facilitate the compilation, analysing, and reporting of data on climate actions, and fulfilment of UNFCCC reporting obligations. She has worked with organisations and in country stakeholders to implement these systems in countries in Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Kathryn has gained experience in emissions inventories through her work compiling and providing QA/QC for the UK greenhouse gas and air pollutant inventories, including those of the Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies, and England and the Devolved Administrations. Kathryn has also built-up knowledge on the wider impacts of climate action at a national and local level. She has experience in conducting analysis of the potential synergies and conflicts between climate policies and other environmental, economic, and social priorities, creating outputs that can be used for joined up, climate-centric decision making.

Kathryn has extensive experience in data visualisation, creating online, interactive data viewers, and static reports. Kathryn has implemented these outputs for a range of customers, including national and local governments, and non-government organisations, to increase engagement with environmental datasets.

Projects include:

  • Project managing Aether’s work to support the design and implementation of a Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub for the Economic Community of Central African States, building capacity to create sustainable teams of climate transparency experts in the region.
  • Project managing Aether’s input to the UK National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory, including QA/QC of emissions estimates for the Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies and England and the Devolved Administrations.
  • Multi-criteria assessment of Ealing Council’s Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy, including analysis of climate actions against the priorities outlined in Ealing’s Council Plan through literature review and stakeholder workshops.

Outside of work, Kathryn can almost always be found on a tennis court, training and competing around the country.
