Chitra leads Aether’s work with UK local authorities, specialising in the development and implementation of climate action, strategy and policy. She brings over 25 years’ experience delivering high‑impact programmes across government and civil society, with a deep understanding of the UK’s political economy and climate policy landscape.

Prior to joining Aether, Chitra was Head of Climate Change at Hampshire County Council, where she led the development and delivery of the Council’s Climate Change Strategy, setting ambitious targets for both net zero and climate resilience across a county of 1.4 million residents.

Chitra is particularly motivated by translating evidence into action and enabling institutions and partnerships to deliver systemic change. She has extensive experience working across complex, multi‑stakeholder environments, building trusted relationships with politicians, senior leaders, businesses, communities and the third sector to deliver shared outcomes. Her work is underpinned by a strong commitment to equitable, inclusive and behaviour‑led approaches to climate action.

Chitra lives in Hampshire and is a Board member of The Greening Campaign – a local grassroots community climate programme. She also practices yoga daily and loves cooking and travelling with her daughter.
