Melanie Hobson has over 10 years experience in emission inventories, transport policy projects and local air quality management. Melanie was the project manager and provided technical input to the UK’s national atmospheric emissions inventory programme. She has also played a key role in many transport projects spanning the road transport, shipping and rail sectors for UK Government, Transport for London and the European Commission. Melanie has also undertaken numerous air quality assessments for property developers, industry and Local Authorities and is part of the Defra LAQM support project team, which involves reviewing Local Authority air quality reports required under the regime.
Other recent work has included working with the Institute of Transport Policy Studies in Japan to develop a transport scenario model for the ASEAN countries and doing an air quality assessment for a proposed residential development in Canada Water in London.
Melanie is currently co-chair of the UNECE TFEIP projections expert panel, which meets to improve emission projection estimates and understand the implications for policy.
