Aether Experts Contribute to IPCC Report on Short-Lived Climate Forcers

6 October 2025

In October, Aether team members travelled to Istanbul to take part in a key international meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Serving as lead authors on the forthcoming IPCC Methodology Report on Short-Lived Climate Forcers (SLCFs) a critical update that will guide countries in improving their greenhouse gas inventories and climate reporting.

SLCFs, such as black carbon, and other ozone precursors, have a powerful but short-lived impact on the climate. Enhancing the accuracy and consistency of how these pollutants are measured is essential for effective mitigation strategies and for achieving near-term climate goals.

The meeting brought together scientists and experts from around the world to advance the technical content of the report, which will support national inventory compilers and policymakers alike. Aether is proud to be contributing to this important work, helping to ensure that climate action is grounded in robust, transparent science.

Stay tuned for more updates as the report progresses toward publication.
