Air Quality Assessment for Hadley PLC

31 January 2018

Aether has recently completed an air quality assessment for the propsoed developement of a new manufacturing unit in Smethwick, West Bromwich. The site lies within the Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) which has been declared by the council due to elevated levels of nitrogen dioxide concentrations. Therefore as the development is located within an area of existing poor air quality, the Council require an air quality assessment to ensure the protection of employees. In addition, any impact the devleopment may have on local air quality through the introduction of traffic must also be assessed.

The assessment used the dispersion model ADMS roads to assess the pollutant concentrations both without and with development. No exceedances were predicted, however Aether suggested mitigation measures to be implemented in order to reduce the developments impact on local air quality.
