Air quality assessment for a hotel development at Heathrow

19 August 2016

Aether has recently completed an air quality assessment for a proposed hotel development near to Heathrow Airport.

The project used the ADMS dispersion model and local monitoring data to predict air quality pollutant concentrations at the development site and at nearby residential properties. The site lies in a GLA air quality focus area.

There are 187 Air Quality Focus Areas in the Capital. These are locations that not only exceed the EU annual mean limit value for nitrogen dioxide, but are also locations with high human exposure. The focus areas were defined to address concerns raised by boroughs within the Local Air Quality Management review process. They are not an exhaustive list of London hotspot locations, but where the GLA believe the problem to be most acute.
