Air Quality Assessment in Barnet

Aether has recently completed an air quality assessment for a proposed primary school development in the London Borough of Barnet. The proposed development consists of the demolition of the existing building and construction of a new two storey primary school with associated car parking. The development is located within an area of existing poor air quality, the Council therefore require an air quality assessment to ensure the protection of pupils and staff from poor air quality. In addition, any impact the school may have on local air quality through the introduction of traffic must also be assessed.

The assessment used the dispersion model ADMS roads to assess the pollutant concentrations both without and with development. In addition, Aether suggested mitigation measures to be implemented in order to reduce the developments impact on local air quality.
