Air quality assessment in Cambridge

13 June 2016

Aether has undertaken an air quality assessment using dispersion modelling for a proposed residential development on Coldhams Lane in Cambridge. The developers guide to air quality in Cambridge states that an assessment is required where more than 50 new car parking spaces are provided and in this case 85 are being provided, triggering the requirement for an assessment.

The assessment estimated nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter (PM10) concentrations without and with development and then advised whether any action was required to reduce the residents’ exposure to air pollution. The report also considered the impact of the development on pollution levels within the Cambridge air quality management area. In addition, an air quality neutral assessment was undertaken.
