The long term aim is for the participant countries is to successfully implement National Systems capable of meeting the EU’s compilation and reporting standards under the Monitoring Mechanism Regulation and equivalent to UNFCCC Annex I annual GHG inventory reporting. The Workshop was a great success with over 50 participants all providing active contributions to the discussions. Many countries brought excellent representation from Environment and Energy Ministries, Environment Agencies, Statistics Agencies and technical institutions who all made significant progress shaping action plans for the further development of their National Systems for GHG estimation and reporting. The workshop resulted in over 120 proposed actions across the 8 countries. The next steps include further workshop in June-September and in the meantime active work on defining the improvement plans and improving National Systems.
