Aether provided training to strengthen Government of Jersey’s climate policy modelling capacity

11 December 2025

Aether has extensive experience working with the Government of Jersey on their GHG inventory. In 2021, Aether completed a project for the Government of Jersey using Aether’s Carbon Scenario Model to quantify the carbon impacts of net zero policies. The model is a key tool for the Government of Jersey for informing policy decisions on climate actions, and other related policies.

In 2025, Aether delivered the next phase of the modelling work. This was to update the data and assumptions and embed knowledge of Carbon Scenario Modelling into the Government of Jersey team. Aether devised and delivered a training programme to provide a member of Government of Jersey with a comprehensive understanding of the model, the modelling process, and ability to carry out updates to the model.

This project used the train-the-trainers model to support the individual to complete the first iteration of the updated model and enabled them to be confident to train other members in the Government to build internal capacity.

As a result of this project, the Government of Jersey now has the capability to independently make edits and updates to their emissions modelling tool and use it to support exploration of policy options. They have full ownership of the model and the knowledge required to use it independently going forwards.
