Iceland LULUCF

1 June 2025

Aether recently concluded a project in partnership with the Land and Forest Iceland agency, focused on strengthening national capacity in the LULUCF sector.

The primary objective was to enhance the technical foundation of Iceland’s GHG inventory preparation for the LULUCF sector, which is submitted annually to the UNFCCC. The project involved providing technical support, including data processing and analysis. Special attention was given to developing a calculation framework for Policies and Measures (PaMs) aimed at reducing emissions or increasing carbon removals in the LULUCF sector.

This project represents a continuation of previous phases of cooperation on the GHG inventory. Thanks to close coordination with the Land and Forest Iceland team, all planned tasks were successfully completed on schedule.

Aether expresses its gratitude to the Land and Forest Iceland team for the productive collaboration and reaffirms its commitment to supporting future initiatives related to climate reporting and sustainable land use management.
