Project win: Air quality assessment

20 April 2014

Aether has been asked to undertake an air quality review for the proposed construction of a crematorium in Buckinghamshire. The work will include an assessment of the current legislative requirements of crematoriums in terms of emissions to air and the required abatement.

Cremation is a batch process consisting of a brief flash caused by volatilisation of the veneer on the coffin, burning of the coffin, cremation of the body, calcinations of the remains and ashing. Each stage will result in potential pollution being emitted to the atmosphere. It is therefore important that the air quality aspects are assessed prior to construction to ensure that emissions are minimal.
